SLO - Re-connecting Raw Materials with Society

Tuesday, November 29, 2016
Sheraton Hotel, Brussels, Belgium

On the occasion of the European Raw Materials Week, from 28 November until 2 December, the Montanuniversitaet Leoben (AT) and the Trinity College Dublin (IE), with the support of the Sustainable Minerals Institute of the University of Queensland (AU) and the Advanced Mining Technology Centre of the University of Chile organise a conference on "SLO- Reconnecting Raw Materials and Society".

Technical, environmental and social challenges in the raw materials industry are genuinely pressing given the rapid pace of change and corresponding build-up of pressure from civil society. The industry needs to react responsibly and swiftly to connect with the expectations of a knowledge-driven and materials-dependent society. Europe, having recognized its need for raw materials and a common overarching goal for growth, must satisfy a particular set of challenges including those at the local level in order to achieve the high-level goals.

The conference takes place on Tuesday, 29 November at the Sheraton Hotel in Brussels.
